About Tales...
Tales of a Second Grade Workaholic was first created in 2015. It started out, as most of my projects do, as an endeavor to keep myself occupied over the summer months. I'm sure all of my teacher friends out there can relate...You work like a crazy person, also known as an "extremely dedicated teacher", for ten months out of the year surviving on coffee and five hours of sleep (if you are lucky!) only to get to June and then...WHAM!...you are sitting at your kitchen table wondering what on earth you are going to do with all of your "free time". Flash forward to 2017 and here we are. Perhaps a better name for this blog may be, "Tales of an Unfinished Project that I am Finally Getting Back to"...
About Me...
I began my teaching career nearly twenty years ago. (Holy cow...has it been that long?) And, in that time, I have often wondered about those ninja teachers (we all know them...) that always seem to have it all together AND are still able to leave school twenty minutes after dismissal, show up on time for their kids' soccer games, spend time with their friends, and have weekend adventures with their husbands.
How do they do it?
What is their secret?
Well, after nearly two decades of teaching, countless hours spent planning into the wee hours of the night, and more weekends spent in my classroom or at a copy machine than I care to admit, I have decided that there has to be a better way. Therefore, Tales of a Second Grade Workaholic is my voyage to discovering my inner ninja teacher while attempting to help myself, as well as other workaholic teachers out there like me, learn to work smarter NOT harder.
